Ashley Graham is an unstoppable force in fashion these days. First, she broke boundaries on the runway by becoming the first ever plus-size model to walk for Michael Kors last year and now, the brunette beauty has just been named as the newest face of Revlon making her the first curvy model to claim such a title.
The announcement follows that of Wonder Woman‘s Gal Gadot‘s appointment to the brand also. Graham appears in the brand’s new Live Boldly campaign alongside Adwoa Aboah, Imaan Hammam, Raquel Zimmerman, Achok Majak and Rina Fukushi.
It’s huge news for the beauty industry which has been slower to showcase models who aren’t typical runway-size. Graham has long been an ambassador for greater inclusion in both the fashion and beauty worlds, something which makes her appointment all the more poignant.
On her appointment, Graham told WWD, “You’ve been slowly seeing [curvy] models pop up in makeup campaigns but you haven’t heard of any actually signing contracts. It’s kind of groundbreaking, because in my generation of models, this hasn’t happened yet. The average American woman is a size 14 and if you ask me, lipstick does not have a size.”
Amen, sister.
