The biggest night in the music industry took place earlier this morning and though there was a stunning red carpet (which also paid tribute to the Time’s Up and Voices in Entertainment initiatives), and a handful of noteworthy performances, it was the bold beauty looks (and hairstyles) that really caught our attention.
We’ve rounded up the top five looks from the event to help you save time on finding some new beauty inspiration. Take a look here…
1. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is known for bringing her A-game to the red carpet. Having previously attended the red carpet in bold choices (who could forget that meat dress?), the Million Reasons singer opted for a more elegant look this year instead. Dressed in a Giorgio Armani Privé gown, her beauty look— created by Sarah Nicole Tanno — perfectly complemented the outfit.
Inspired by a dark starry night, her eyes were boldly lined with Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Crayon which was then blended all over the lid and the peach tone from the Glambition Eyeconic palette was brushed all the way to the brow. On the hair front, Frederic Aspiras worked his magic and tied together two long braids with thick black thread.
2. Janelle Monáe
Janelle Monae delivered an empowering speech during the ceremony and worked florals (the symbol of the evening) into her outfit on her tuxedo jacket, through her jewellery choices and hair accessories. Her beauty look featured a refreshing explosion of colour thanks to her teal eye make-up, created with Buxom’s Hold The Line Waterproof Eyeliner in Ring My Bell. Her lashes were on point too, with a glossy lip complementing the look.
3. Rita Ora
Rita Ora stuck to a classic look for the Grammy Awards this year. Channelling old Hollywood glamour, makeup artist Kathy Jeung kept it sweet and soft with Rimmel’s Stay Matte Lip Colour in Plum That Show to create the singer’s bold lip. Her semi-ombre hair was softly tousled with John Freida’s renowned hair products.
4. Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes stunned in a shimmering strapless dress by Zac Posen and the metallic ensemble was complemented by a sleek beauty look that showed off her best features. Her green eyes were striking thanks to a brown smokey eye that was paired with nude lips, and her dark locks were twisted in shiny finger waves to add unexpected edge.
5. Hailee Steinfeld
One of our favourite looks of the day, Hailee Steinfeld kept it chic and simple at this year’s award ceremony as she dazzled in a strapless white dress by Alexandre Vauthier (which she paired with metallic purple knee-high boots). To create her beauty look, hairstylist Gregory Russell opted for a deep left side part and kept her locks soft and wavy. Whilst her face was fairly neutral, we love the bold blue smokey eye that really helped her eyes to pop.
