The 2018 Met Gala: Best beauty looks

Here's what caught our eye
The 2018 Met Gala took place earlier this morning and alongside the gowns were some killer beauty looks...

The first Monday in May is officially upon us and whilst we’ve already witnessed a slew of standout ensembles grace the red carpet, there was also more than a few standout beauty looks, too. A more natural approach dominated this year, but this perfectly complemented the stars’ bold outfit choices to fit the Costume Institute exhibition theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”

Here are a few of our favourite beauty looks…

1. Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee Steinfeld always slays the red carpet and this year the artist was dressed in a white gown by Prabal Gurung. Her light brown locks were slightly tousled by hairstylist Gregory Russell whilst her face was beautifully done by makeup artist Mary Phillips. Steinfeld’s eyes were finished with neutral tones whilst her cheeks were slightly blushed with soft pink powder. A bold lip added a standout touch — the perfect complement to the regal crown.

2. Emily Ratajkowski

New Paco Rabanne brand ambassador, Emily Ratajkowski, was literally a golden goddess at the Met Gala. The newlywed wore a metallic form-fitting gown complete with a beaded headband and crystal earrings by Messika. As for her hair and makeup? The model/actress had her locks pulled back into loose braided waves with a few strands out to frame her face. Sporting a radiant and luminous complexion, her beauty look consisted of defined cheekbones, brows and an orange-to-brown smokey eye, as well as a dark nude lip.

3. Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra (who is reportedly attending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s highly-anticipated wedding next week) stunned the world in a beautiful red velvet ensemble by Ralph Lauren. But, it was the beaded hood that took over 250 hours to hand-bead that really stole the spotlight. Under the beaded masterpiece, the actress’ hair was finished in finger waves whilst her eyes glistened with gold glitter, paired perfectly with a dark red lip.

4. Olivia Munn

Olivia Munn was dressed in a shimmering split gold H&M gown that came with a matching chain-mail headpiece. Sporting loose waves, the actress also opted for a deep burgundy lip that matched her nails and shimmering details in the inner corner of her eyes.

5. Jasmine Sanders

Jasmine Sanders officially made her debut at the Met Gala this year, and her overall look proved her place at the invitation-only event. Her extremely long locks were tied in a beautiful braid with red and gold roses tucked in between the hairs. The actress opted for the all-natural makeup look for her first Met appearance with light pink cheeks and a light pink lip complementing her custom H&M gown.

6. Blake Lively

There’s no question that Blake Lively was one of the best dressed at this year’s Met Gala. The actress (who recently revealed the first trailer for her upcoming movie with Anna Kendrick) looked very regal in her custom Versace x Christian Louboutin ensemble with jewellery by Lorraine Schwartz. As for the beauty look, hairstylist Ron Ortega created a textured updo that was the perfect setting for Lively’s dramatic headpiece. On the makeup front, makeup artist Kristofer Buckle looked towards Italian religious paintings to create Lively’s very structured look with peach and rich red-brown shades around the lids, a little colour on the cheeks and a berry hue on her lips.
