LAYERING THE RIGHT WAY: YOUR AM VS. PM SKINCARE ROUTINE.

Beauty Day & Night.
If you’re struggling to figure out how to layer skincare products and what’s the difference in what your morning and evening skincare is supposed to do for your skin…From A-Z of getting rid of all that confusion - this is for you.

The skincare products you use for day and night slightly differ because they are targeting different purposes for your skin health. The conscious care to the right order of skincare products assures that your skin is able to retain its benefits properly, because they are appropriately fitting to what your skin needs at that moment. To start making the most out of every investment into your skin health and bask in more anti- aging galore – let’s get into it.

AM Skincare:

Your skin faces all the dehydrating environmental exposure and irritants when stepping out into the world for your everyday, so making sure it’s protected and moisturized before heading out is key to your daytime skincare. A lot of what you’d think is a ‘must’ for your routine actually best works towards the one you go through before you sleep – and that’s because the time for restorative skincare comes later!

The List:

– Cleanser

– (Any masks would best go here)

– Toner

(More towards the optional side, but recommended for skin priming and an extra boost of

hydration in the morning)

– Serum

(More recommended to put use of these more so to your PM routine, but serums like Vitamin C

could work for that antioxidant boost)

– (Day) Eye Cream

(more caffeine focused to help with the appearance of eye bags and looking more ‘awake’)

– (Any Spot Treatments would go here)

– Moisturizer

– (Any Face Oils right after your moisturizer here)

– Sunscreen

(And no, this one is definitely not a negotiable one, that’s for sure!)

PM Skincare:

When winding down before bed, your target is more restorative – think nourishing, repairing and relaxing. Since your body regenerates itself while you sleep, this is the ideal time to utilize products that are designed to nourish and repair the skin. For this reason, additional serums and night creams would all be applied in this section of your skincare routine, and the order could not be more crucial in order to prevent irritation and prepare your skin barrier for the following day.

The List:

– (Oil Cleanser first if you’re taking off makeup)

– Cleanser

– Toner

(More towards the optional side, but recommended to help prime your skin and make sure

excess sebum is taken care of – especially after makeup removal!)

– Serum

(Tip: Hydrating serums that are hyaluronic based and or with actives like Niacinamide to prep

your skin for the steps ahead)

– Night Eye Cream

(more hydration focused to target replenishing of the skin after the day)

– (Any Spot Treatments would go here)

– Moisturizer

– (Any Face Oils right after your moisturizer here)

– Retinol

(apply a layer of moisturizer about 10 minutes after Retinol application to help with irritation)

OR

– Night/Anti-aging Cream with retinoids

(especially useful if you’re easing into retinol use and have sensitive skin)
