One of the most anticipated restaurant openings of the year, Morimoto Dubai opened the doors to a two-storey luxury space that redfines Japanese cuisine. Brought to the UAE for the very first time by internationally acclaimed celebrity chef, Masaharu Morimoto (who is also known to millions as the star of Iron Chef), the restaurant is located on the 23rd and 24th floor of the newly opened Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai.
Morimoto Dubai welcomes its guests with 250 seats spread across a lounge, bar area, sushi counter, four outdoor terraces, three private dining rooms (perfect for hosting larger groups) and a dedicated teppanyaki station — all surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the Burj Khalifa and the canal.
Blending the culinary tastes of Masaharu’s native Japan and America, the ever-changing menu is expertly crafted by experienced Japanese sushi and teppan chefs from across the globe.
Bringing together an exciting dining experience with perfectly balanced flavours, the wide and mouth-watering menu has something for everyone.
When we visited, Buro 24/7 Middle East opted for the Shoka Teppanyaki, an exclusive live teppanyaki experience with a brand-new menu just for the summer season. Made up of eight courses (which can only be described as pure delight), each dish was perfectly made by the restaurant’s skilled chefs who used Morimoto’s signature teppanyaki techniques and traditional, rich ingredients.
We kicked off our experience with a chilled pudding that came with soybean and a Japanese sea urchin, and it was then followed by four pieces of delicious wagyu tataki that came with scallion salsa and daikon. Also on the menu, the experienced chef prepared the taraba kani that consisted of Japanese fruit tomato, caviar and 22-carat gold flakes (food doesn’t come much more luxurious than this…).
Next up on the menu was the dobin-mushi (a traditional Japanese seafood broth) that came with pike eel, mitsuba and sudachi fruit, then the tenshi no ebi made with garlic xo sauce, and finally, and perhaps the most delicious plate on the menu, the Japanese rossini which perfectly blended the flavours of wagyu beef, maitake, foie gras and spinach.
We ended our culinary experience with truffle fried rice which came with Australian winter truffle, and a delicious Japanese pancake, dorayaki, that came with a scoop of mango sorbet and fresh fruits.
The teppanyaki experience brilliantly highlights the rich flavours of Japanese cuisine and brings traditional techniques to the fore. Interactive and seriously delicious, this is one meal you won’t soon forget.
