YOUR DOSE OF DRAMA: BURO’S MAKEUP EDITORIAL CHANNELS THE ICONIC INFLUENCE OF PAT MCGRATH FOR MARGIELA LOOKS.

Glass skin, porcelain doll and more.
Just a couple of months ago, we all witnessed a moment of fashion transcendence into pure artistry during Maison Margiela’s Spring 2024 Couture show but there was more to the magic than John Galliano's touch. Pat McGrath, the makeup maestro herself, cast her spell at the show, conjuring makeup looks that evoke the enchanting allure of porcelain dolls. With luminous glass skin, impeccably sculpted brows, and daring eyeshadows adorning their lids, models strutted down the runway in Paris, resurrecting a long-lost aesthetic. This iconic look harks back to the days of John Galliano's Dior reign, where McGrath first waved her wand behind the scenes.

Now and today BURO and an inspiring team of make-up artists, stylists and more brought it back to life, and it’s more mesmerizing than ever…

THE PORCELAIN-CHIC GLASS MAKE-UP:

Inspired by the legendary Pat McGrath, who redefined the makeup industry with her revolutionary techniques, our makeup artist embarked on a journey to recreate her iconic ceramic effect. Drawing from vintage 1920s glamour but infusing it with a modern twist, the makeup features mesmerizing minty green and icy blue eyeshadows, evoking a touch of gothic elegance. To achieve McGrath’s signature porcelain-like finish, our artist turned to a unique approach: Freeman’s cucumber peel-off mask. Layered meticulously, each application was dried individually with the precision of a blow dryer, resulting in a flawless, radiant complexion reminiscent of McGrath’s groundbreaking techniques.

THE STYLING.

The stylist meticulously handcrafted each garment from scratch, deliberately infusing an exaggerated flair to both the clothes and the overall mood, perfectly capturing the essence of the Margiela show.
