Picture mermaids, tritons, and a fairytale world brimming with pearls, corals, and the shimmering dance of sunlight beneath the waves. From sandy shores to crystal-clear waters, their footwear collection takes you on a journey through the enchanting depths of the ocean, where every step is a siren's song and pearls reign supreme.

WHAT TECHNIQUES OR DESIGN ELEMENTS DO YOU USE TO MAKE PEARLS FEEL FRESH AND MODERN IN YOUR SUMMER DESIGNS?

In our ‘Sirene’ collection, we experimented with new techniques to use pearls in an unexpected and fun way. We created trims of degrading pearls that increase and decrease in size to give a three-dimensional visual effect. This is emphasized by the color choices; using white as a base and then inserting pink or pastel blue on the larger pearls to accentuate the ‘degrade’ effect.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO INCORPORATE PEARLS INTO YOUR SUMMER COLLECTION?

MACH & MACH’s spring/summer 2024 collection is an ode to the royalty of the undersea world, inhabited by mermaids, a romantic fairytale against the backdrop of breathtaking panoramas. The shoe collection is reminiscent of sandy beaches lulled by the song of mermaids, where you can find iridescent pearls illuminated by colourful undertones. Our inspiration also from came from our extensive research we did in the tanneries where we found a vintage leather that was just perfect; a Made in Italy leather with a golden iridescent wash that gives a delicate pearly light effect and marine nuances.

CAN YOU SHARE ANY TIPS FOR STYLING PEARL ACCESSORIES TO ACHIEVE A CHIC SUMMER LOOK?

We imagine our pearl accessories such as the ‘Sirene’ sandals styled with more masculine pieces such as blazer dresses and black tights, or the ‘Sirene’ mules worn over summery mini-dresses or shorts. The ‘Sirene’ kitten heel thong mules can be styled with denim cropped pants or alternatively a short evening dress for a more balanced, elevated and chic look.

ARE THERE SPECIFIC TYPES OF PEARLS OR COLORS THAT YOU FIND PARTICULARLY SUITED TO SUMMER FASHION TRENDS?

Definitely white for summer; with its vibrant shades, the natural colour of pearls is our favourite, because it evokes marine nature and its richness of hues and plays of light. Light pink and light blue can also be perfect with the summer vibe.

PEARLS ARE OFTEN ASSOCIATED WITH ELEGANCE AND SOPHISTICATION, HOW DO YOU BALANCE THIS WITH THE CASUAL, LAID-BACK VIBDE OF SUMMER FASHION?

It depends on how they are interpreted; pearls can create a very sophisticated or classic look, but when used in an unexpected way, they become pieces that add a touch of chic and playfulness to your wardrobe, whether you’re going to the beach or the streets of the Riviera.
