Dubai Design Week is officially underway for 2018 and there’s a whole host of fascinating exhibitions and installations on display. One such installation is Aglow by Nemozena in collaboration with Liz West. The fashion brand, known for its focus on sustainability and supply chain transparency, has teamed up with the artist to present a piece that is “a celebration of female creative power and the contribution it can give to every day experiences,” the duo wrote in a release.
We caught up exclusively with Liz this week and she explained the message of the piece saying, “Aglow is about two female-based companies coming together and both believing in the value of empowering women through creativity. The bowls are a very feminine sign, the sensibility overall is quintessentially feminine. Because of its scale and the monumental size of the piece, which is usually seen in male projects, Aglow is also a statement about the kind of huge impact we are women artists can have on the world.”
Nemozena CEO Gaenaelle Perrot agrees, telling Buro. Middle East, “Aglow is a celebration of female power and contribution to the world at large. The energetic presence of strong, intelligent and inspirational women in daily life, at work, in families, and all over the world, has a crucial and critical value in society. Nemozena as a brand is investing in the supporting and underlining of this and the many ways in which women should be empowered. The sensibility and the formal impact of this art project points to a vibrant and energetic presence, and its round forms convey a welcoming female vision for the future.”
Aglow is on display now, until November 17, at Dubai Design Week.
