Since its inception in 2001, the Trophée Chopard has been dedicated to recognizing the newest wave of international cinema, by annually awarding a talented actress and actor at the start of their careers. This coveted distinction is celebrated at a prestigious dinner, jointly hosted by Iris Knobloch (Festival President), Thierry Frémaux (Festival General Delegate), and Caroline Scheufele (Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard).
Caroline Scheufele has chosen Natalie Portman to be the presenter of the 2023 awards. Who better than the celebrated actress, who has been part of the film industry since her early years, to honor the next generation of international cinema talents? Natalie Portman’s illustrious career has spanned almost three decades, with over 60 films and five TV shows to her credit. Her notable performances include her Oscar-winning role in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. Additionally, she has ventured into directing and production, with her short film Eve premiering at the Venice Film Festival in 2008. On May 19th, during the 76th Cannes Film Festival, the 2023 Trophée Chopard will be presented to two deserving laureates during a lavish dinner organized by Iris Knobloch, Thierry Frémaux, and Caroline Scheufele, focusing on the theme of skills transmission. The winners will be chosen by the Académie du Trophée Chopard, which includes past recipients as well as godparents from previous years.
