Who can forget the Sabato De Sarno‘s ‘Gucci Ancora’ show, which not only introduced the ‘Gucci Rossa’ shade on the runway but also rebranded the Italian Maison in the deep burgundy hue? One of the most anticipated and talked-about shows of the season, burgundy’s imminent fame was guaranteed even without the backing of other designers.
Months before the Spring/Summer 2024 collections land in stores, burgundy has already penetrated the fashion landscape, giving birth to what is dubbed the ‘Cherry Girls’ trend. The richer and more sophisticated sister of red, the burgundy trend is taking over “It” girls’ wardrobes, washing everything from clothes, bags, shoes, accessories, and even nails in the cherished hue. That’s not all; it has also spilled over into the beauty world, with the #CherryMakeup racking up 68.8 million views (and counting) on TikTok.
