Tom Ford proved his star power at his Fall/Winter ’20 show in Los Angeles

Forget the Oscars, it's all about Tom Ford's Los Angeles showcase...

New York Fashion Week has officially begun and whilst the calendar consists of your usual heavyweights — think Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Gabriela Hearst and Marc Jacobs — this season’s newly condensed calendar will be quite different. And it’s in part due to Tom Ford, Chairman of fashion’s CFDA, taking his Fall/Winter ’20 collection to Los Angeles — on day one of NYFW, no less.

Just a few days before the 92nd Academy Awards, the American fashion designer gave the Oscars’ red carpet a run for its money with a standout collection that saw everyone, and we mean everyone, sitting in a star-packed space in the city of angels.

A celebrity favourite, there was no limit as to how much star power he’s got. Celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez, Anna Wintour, Jeff Bezos, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Ciara, Russell Wilson, Renée Zellweger, Kate Hudson, Dr. Dre and Tracee Ellis Ross — the list of bold-facers go on and on, and that was only off the runway.

On the runway, Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner (who all fronted Burberry’s Spring/Summer ’20 campaign) were just some of the muses that strutted Ford’s signature glitz and glam.

In recent memory, this was perhaps one of the best collections we’ve seen from Ford. The glitz and glam on the runway was infused with streetwear elements and sophisticated cuts too, that came in oversized leopard printed coats, colourful fringed gowns, velvet suits, cut-off sweatshirts, baggy trousers and just an overall stunning selection of daywear.

Perhaps our favourite accessory spotted on the runway? Those brightly coloured feathered earrings paired with several of the looks.

Now, in case you’re missing Fashion Week, Youtube has got a solution for you.
