NYFW Fall/Winter 2018: Day 4 Highlights

Here are the collections you need to see...
The newest autumnal collections from Victoria Beckham, Brandon Maxwell and Prabal Gurung have just been showcased at NYFW...

On day four of New York Fashion Week, there were three stand-out shows that were worth digesting. Take a look here…

Victoria Beckham

What you need to know: Victoria Beckham shifted her focus to more tailored silhouettes for her autumnal collection. With a mix of traditional cuts and those designed for comfort, the F/W’18 collection saw a host of strong suits, silk dresses, knitted sweaters and coats in a military colour palette.

Key moment: Ten years ago, Victoria Beckham made her debut at New York Fashion Week and at yesterday’s collection show, she bid farewell to New York before she joins the London Fashion Week schedule in September. Another key moment? The Beckham family (Romeo, Cruz, Harper and David) cheering on the former Spice Girl from the front row.

Brandon Maxwell

What you need to know: Known for his red carpet-ready gowns and the most glamorous of ensembles, Brandon Maxwell took a slightly more relaxed approach for his F/W’18 collection. The autumnal range boasted form-fitting silhouettes, denim trousers, twinkling ball-skirts and a selection of colourful modest cuts.

Celebrity line-up: Brandon Maxwell delivered a star-studded runway show that saw Romee Strijd, Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls and the Hadid sisters (Bella opened and Gigi closed the show) front the designer’s newest ensembles.

Prabal Gurung

What you need to know: American-Nepalese fashion designer Prabal Gurung unfolded a colourful collection for F/W’18. There was a series of lush cashmere and wool knits with feather and sequin detailing, as well as velvet finishes, pearl embellishments and quilted puffer jackets.

The moment that had everyone talking: Prabal Gurung is known for staging socially-charged runway shows in the past and this time, it was no different. Inspired by the women-led Mosuo tribe of China, Gurung celebrated the strength and grace of women by sending down a diverse model line-up (including the Hadid sisters and Ashley Graham) in Nepalese handcrafted knits.
