Here are the collections that ruled the runway...
The list of runway collections by coveted designers continue to be showcased on day five of New York Fashion Week...

On day five of New York Fashion Week, there were several stand-out shows that were worth taking a closer look at. Here’s looking at Brock CollectionSies MarjanBossRodarte and Prabal Gurung‘s newest S/S’19 collections…

Brock Collection

What you need to know: Brock Collection delivered a romantic yet all-American Spring/Summer ’19 collection during New York Fashion Week. Laura Vassar and Kris Brock swapped their traditional white-walled runway space for one of their favourite restaurants (Daniel Rose’s popular French eatery, Le Coucou), delivering a collection that was made with the restaurant in mind. Imagining how the clothes would look like in the setting, the duo sent a slew of romantic silhouettes, printed fabrics, flared skirts and their signature corset constructions down the runway.

In case you missed it: The designer duo behind the label referenced American artist Georgia O’Keeffe in most of their pieces with wallpaper-like prints. Georgia O’Keeffe has recently influenced several designers in the past two years, including Micheal Kors and Maria Grazia Chiuri

Sies Marjan

What you need to know: Sies Marjan showcased a different approach to next season’s dressing with a collection that was more relaxed and reality-based. Using only neutral and bold hues, Sander Lak embraced a very utilitarian aesthetic via long shirtdresses, cargo pants, pleated dresses, draped silhouettes, a reworking of the classic tuxedo and a slew of deconstructed pieces.

In case you missed it: There was such a diverse line-up of models at the Sies Marjan show, including Lak’s mother.

Boss

What you need to know: Hugo Boss’ more contemporary label unveiled a co-ed collection overnight with lightweight layers in soft shades, relaxed cuts, sporty details, easygoing hand-crinkled tailoring, surfboard stripes and patchwork leather giving us the ultimate beachside vibes. Fitting, giving the collection is called ‘California Breeze.’

The key details: Not only did the lightweight sartorial pieces catch our attention, but the brand’s latest accessories (handbags, sunglasses and strappy footwear) had us screenshotting like nobody’s business.

Rodarte

What you need to know: After showcasing their collections in Paris for several seasons, the Mulleavy sisters are back in New York and they delighted the crowd with their comeback collection. Continuing the brand’s whimsical-meets-ethereal aesthetic, the embellished pieces were finished with intricate embroideries, detailed ruffles and roses, in all shapes and colours.

The beauty behind the collection: The beauty looks were just as statement-worthy as the collection what with hair stylist Odile Gilbert and makeup artist James Kaliardos working their expertise on the models. Whilst Gilbert blended flowers with Art Deco-inspired metal crowns and birds, Kaliardos created the beauty looks inspired by the Picasso 1932 — Love, Fame, Tragedy show at the Tate Modern with bold and bright lips and eyes.

Prabal Gurung

What you need to know: Staying true to his brand aesthetics, Prabal Gurung delivered a very rich Spring/Summer ’19 collection that was filled with energy — there was a lot of colour blocking hues, bold tones and relaxed silhouettes. Plus, Gurung closed the show with a range of gowns from his exclusive Atelier Prabal Gurung label.

Model line-up: Some of the biggest names in the industry walked for Prabal Gurung (as usual). We spotted the Hadid sisters, Joan Smalls and a slew of male models who were there to front the debut of the brand’s men’s line.
