The 71st annual British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTAs) took place in London overnight.

Some of the biggest names in entertainment from Britain and beyond came to the capital for the ceremony. And although the weather was not entirely conducive to an extended red carpet, stars including Lupita Nyong’o, Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan braved the cold in style.

Like at this year’s Golden Globes, actresses wore black as a sign of solidarity to the Time’s Up movement. One notable exception to the all-black theme was the Duchess of Cambridge who opted for a dark army green gown by Jenny Packham. It was revealed earlier this month that the royal was facing a dilemma when it came to choosing a dress given that royal protocol states that members of the royal family cannot make political statements — something dressing in black would do. However the Duchess did give a nod to the theme by accessorizing the dress with a black velvet belt, black shoes and a black handbag.
