The fashion industry has been shifting its focus to sustainbility more and more in recent years and American brand Everlane has been at the forefront of innovation in that time.
Earlier this year, the brand announced that it would create a full silk collection made in an energy-efficient factory that has been certified to prove that the pieces are free from harmful substances. Now, according to WWD, the label, known for its direct-to-consumer methods and open approach to production, has decided to “eliminate all virgin plastic from its supply chain by 2021”, and the first collection to help the brand achieve that goal has just been released.
Everlane has launched a new collection, called ReNew, of women’s and men’s cold-weather-appropriate styles including puffer jackets, parkas and fleece sweatshirts made from recycled plastic water bottles.
The launch of the new collection marks the first step in Everlane’s vision to “address the global plastics crisis” and to stop “creating new plastic and renew what already exists.”
Everlane’s ReNew collection will be available online at Everlane.com/ReNew from October 24, 2018.
