Balmain launches red carpet capsule collection

Titled 44 François Premier
Olivier Rousteing has revealed a new limited edition couture collection dedicated to the red carpet. Buro 24/7 Middle East has the details...

The 2018 Oscar nominations were announced last night and there’s now another designer vying to dress Hollywood’s biggest names for film’s most important night of the year.

Balmain‘s Olivier Rousteing has launched a new capsule collection, titled 44 François Premier (named after the brand’s atelier address), aimed at red carpet dressing. The 10-piece collection features gowns that are decidedly longer and more formal than Rousteing’s usual creations though the brand’s signature sexiness remains.

In a statement, the designer said, “As Balmain continues its impressive upward trajectory and the demand for this house’s red carpet pieces grows, I find that — for one small part of our output, at least — I now have the luxury of focusing the spotlight solely on the unique heritage that Pierre Balmain left us. Working on this collection is a bit of a palette cleanser for me — a chance to return to the beginnings of this house, with the single driving goal being that of creating unique and exquisite pieces, far removed from editorial and runway pressures.”
