Plus, the designers exclusively speak to Buro 24/7 Middle East...
Your Ramadan wardrobes are now sorted, thanks to this achingly cool regional collaboration. Here are the details...

Ramadan is right around the corner and many regional designers are releasing capsule collections to celebrate the Holy Month.

We’ve seen Rami Al Ali team up with Nadine Kanso, and now diamond design studio, 55FIFTY7, has teamed up with Emirati fashion label BINT THANI to create an exclusive Ramadan collection that perfectly blends Eastern culture and traditional elements.

Called The Starry Nights Edit by 55FIFTY7 and BINT THANI, the collection boasts Japanese influences with elongated designs, kimono-like silhouettes and even includes Japanese fabrics in the apparel line, whilst the jewellery pieces come complete in  18-karat gold, complemented by pink sapphire, diamonds, topaz and pearls.

There are eight jewellery pieces, including earrings in the shape of cherry blossoms and hand fans, as well as a necklace with a bamboo tree pendant, whilst the apparel line features six different looks available in a beautiful colour palette of vintage maroon, soft lavender, light blue, army olive green and off white.

Exclusively speaking to Buro 24/7 Middle East about the collection, 55Fifty7’s Maryam Hassani, said: “Both Khulood and I admire the Japanese culture and how it resembles the Middle East in its traditions, leading us to create the Starry Nights Edit by 55FIFTY7 and BINT THANI for Ramadan. The jewellery pieces are inspired by Japanese nature and culture. The gemstones and designs used were inspired by the freshness of spring and the colours of the cherry blossom (Sakura), the texture of the bamboo (Takenoko), the delicate Hand Fan (Ogi) and the geometrical Japanese Celtic pattern. These were all elegantly paired with BINT THANI’s astounding Japanese kimono-influenced designs; effortlessly bringing together two complimentary creative Emirati talents.”

BINT THANI’s Khulood Bint Thani (who recently spoke to us about her switch to sustainable fabrics for A/W’19) explained: “The collection is inspired by the Japanese kimono, showcasing the clean cuts of BINT THANI’s flowing and modest designs that suit Ramadan gatherings. The combination of innovative materials, such as kimono fabrics from Japan that have an exceptional drape, further reflects the modernity of the label’s aesthetic and contemporary codes.”
