The Lyst Index is released quaterly by fashion search engine Lyst, and its most recent report has some surprising revelations. The list, which appears on Vogue UK, is created using data from Google searches, wishlisted items and searches on Lyst itself from over five million shoppers.
As for who came out on top from April to June?
Gucci took the number one spot in both the brand and product listings (its double G logo belt took out top place in the latter list, unsurprisingly), followed by Off-White, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Dolce & Gabbana to round out the top five. Givenchy’s presence isn’t surprising, given the publicity the brand has received from designer Clare Waight Keller‘s friendship with Meghan Markle that has seen the Duchess sport the brand’s pieces on several occasions, most notably at her wedding to Prince Harry in May.
Fendi has made a return to the top 10 also, bolstered by support from the Kardashian-Jenner clan and Nicki Minaj in recent months, and, proving that sportswear is still a force to be reckoned with, Nike came in at number nine ahead of Prada. Versace is up an incredible 14 spots from last quarter also, coming in at number seven.
When it comes to the hottest products, the world is clearly in an accessories moment with half of the list made up of belts (Gucci and Off-White), a bag (Prada’s belt bag) and sunglasses (Céline’s Edge). The footwear additions proved to be the most surprising of all, however, with Fila’s Disruptor sneaker landing the second spot, pre-owned Chanel espadrille flats coming in seventh and, incredulously, Balenciaga‘s platform Crocs rounding out the list in 10th place.
