Paris Couture Week will go digital this July

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week will shift to a virtual format for the first time...

In the midst of a global pandemic, several maisons and fashion events have either cancelled scheduled shows or took this opportunity to implement completely new strategies (Saint Laurent included).

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has announced that Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, scheduled for July, will ditch the traditional runway format and instead, will go digital next month.

From 6 July to 8 July, you’ll be able to stream videos from accredited couture maisons on a dedicated platform. As the Chambre Syndicale currently has 16 participating French brands including Chanel, Christian Dior, Elie Saab, Fendi Couture, Valentino and Versace, it is still uncertain which brands will partake in this year’s activities.

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode made the official announcement earlier this week, stating that “each House will be represented in the form of a creative film/video.” There will also be additional content included in “an editorialized section of the platform.” The content will be “widely shared on the main international media networks.”

Mimicking the flow of a physical Fashion Week schedule, the three days of couture shows are also in the lead up to the first-ever Milano Fashion Week Digital set to run from July 14-17.

The Haute Couture online event will take place from July 6-8. Stay tuned!
