Marc Jacobs is reissuing his controversial grunge collection from 1993

The one that got him fired, to be precise
Marc Jacobs is reissuing one of his most iconic collections and it's m-a-j-o-r...

In 1993, Marc Jacobs sent a grunge collection down the runway for Perry Ellis and it swiftly got him fired — it received heavy criticism given it was a far cry from the aesthetic the brand was known for at the time.

Jacobs went on to launch his own successful label and now he’s having the last laugh by reissuing the collection for Resort 2019. Called ‘Marc Jacobs Redux’ the collection sees the designer recreate all 26 of the ready-to-wear pieces and accessories in all of their glory.

Speaking of the move, the designer said, “The ‘Grunge’ collection epitomised the first time in my professional career I was unwavering in my determination to see my vision come to life on the runway, without creative compromise.”

Gigi Hadid stars in the lookbook (alongside a handful of other models), shot by Juergen Teller.
