LVMH will soon introduce the Karl Lagerfeld Fashion Prize

Another way to pay tribute to the late designer...
LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton has confirmed that its 'Special Prize' will now be named the 'Karl Lagerfeld' Prize...

Ever since his tragic passing earlier this year, there have been many tributes to Karl Lagerfeld – with plenty more to come.

The fash pack first took to Instagram and celebrated the life of the iconic figure, then came Karl Lagerfeld’s final show (at which a slew of maison muses walked the runway), followed by Fendi’s tribute couture show in Rome. Also, we’re going to see a special tribute project take place later this month.

Now, Lagerfeld’s legacy will continue to live on as LVMH have just changed its LVMH Prize to the Karl Lagerfeld Prize — a hub for supporting the stars of fashion’s future.

In honour of the late King Karl, whoever wins this year’s prize will not only be on a trajectory to major success, but will also be the first recipient of the newly named Special Prize.

This year, there was a total of 1,700 applicants from 100 countries, of which, only eight finalists have already been identified: Arealage by Kunihiko Morinaga, Bethany Williams, Bode by Emily Adams Bode, Hed Mayner, Kenneth Ize by Kenneth Izedonmwen, Phipps by Spencer Phipps, Stefan Cooke by Stefan Cooke and Jake Burt, and Thebe Magugu.
