Longchamp announces it will join the NYFW calendar this September

A surprise move from the French brand
Another big name brand is coming to NYFW next season. Here’s why Longchamp are getting on board...

Earlier this week, Escada announced that it would join the upcoming NYFW schedule and now, anther European brand has confirmed it will also make its debut appearance on the calendar this September.

Longchamp will host its first official runway on September 8, although it is my yet known where it will be held.

It’s fitting that the brand would choose to show this year, as 2018 marks its 70th anniversary. It’s also an important step given the label’s repositioning of itself as a lifestyle brand and its subsequent expansion of its ready-to-wear offering.

Speaking of the show and the brand’s plans for future presentations, Sophie Delafontaine told WWD, “We felt that this was the right time to take things to the next level and to set out our vision of the dynamic, cosmopolitan Longchamp woman. Longchamp has always acted on intuition and we’ll continue to act on our intuition as we make decisions for future seasons.”

The show will top off what has been a strong year for the French brand — it partnered with Hood By Air’s Shayne Oliver on an exclusive capsule earlier in the year and signed Kendall Jenner as the face for four seasons. Longchamp also announced that it would host an event in Paris on September  11 in Paris to celebrate its anniversary.

Until then, find out how Riccardo Tisci is shaking up Burberry’s delivery schedule from September.
