Bottega Veneta marks the 50th anniversary of its iconic Intrecciato leather weave with a striking new campaign: Craft is our Language. Captured by photographer Jack Davison and choreographed by Lenio Kaklea, the campaign explores the power of handcraft as a form of universal expression.
Far more than a technique, Intrecciato symbolizes connection and collaboration, values rooted in the brand’s founding by a collective of artisans in 1966. The campaign brings this metaphor to life through powerful stills and films, featuring artisans in dialogue with cultural icons such as Lauren Hutton, Jack Antonoff, Zadie Smith, and Tyler Okonma.
From fashion to film, the featured talents embody excellence in their crafts, highlighting the timeless bond between hand and mind. Through shared gestures and movement, the campaign blurs the line between artist and artisan, reflecting on craft as a shared human language.
Paying homage to Italian culture and design, Craft is our Language draws inspiration from Bruno Munari’s 1963 book on Italian hand gestures. The campaign will culminate in a special book release this September, offering 50 hand gestures that tell the story of Bottega Veneta’s heritage, creativity, and enduring spirit.
