Since Karl Lagerfeld passed away in February of this year, he left behind a legacy that will always be linked to fashion, glamour and luxury. And while he wasn’t known for filing his sketches – in fact, it was widely reporteded that he’d toss them once completed (“I throw everything away,” he told The New Yorker in 2007) – some of his never-before-seen sketches have come to light.
What has been sourced though, isn’t anything recent. Lagerfeld’s drawings from when he was working as a couturier at the House of Tiziani in Rome in the 1960s have been unearthed and they’re super colourful, too.
I mean, these are pretty darn special…

125 of his privately-owned drawings, which feature well-known women such as Elizabeth Taylor, Doris Duke and Gina Lollobrigida will be auctioned in Florida’s Urban Culture Auction on 18 April.
Rico Baca, Co-Owner of Urban Culture Auctions said, “These sketches are the work of one of the most brilliant couturiers of the last half century. They are very rare and might not have survived had they remained in Lagerfeld’s possession.”
Lagerfeld’s two designs for ElizabethTaylor are expected to sell for around Dhs11,017 (USD$3,000) each. The other portfolio collections, dated between 1963 and 1969, are worth about Dhs7,345-Dhs14,690(USD$2,000-$4,000).
We can only imagine how much public demand these beauties command…
