This past week Prince William took part in a charity polo match against members of the Saudi Arabian royal family in Cambridge as part of the annual GCC Polo Cup tournament. Each year the GCC Polo Cup raises money for global environment and humanitarian causes. And whilst the 2018 event was the highest scoring match in the history of the event, our attention was focused on the fashion on the field.
Saudi designer Hatem Alakeel designed the shirts worn by Prince William and his team on the day of the GCC Polo Cup. Speaking to Buro 24/7 Middle East about the commission, Hatem said, “It’s a huge honour to have been assigned to design for his polo tournament. I had to keep it simple but I wanted to give it a different, more sports-luxe feel with the V-neck. This an opportunity that I will carry close to my heart. I have always admired Lady Diana and all it is that she represents so to me this was a very special honour.”
