Ever since Bridgerton graced the small screen, there’s been a resurgence of baby-doll dresses, puffy sleeves, corset tops and ruched separates – even Lyst (the global shopping platform) revealed that search for corsets increased by 123% (#guilty).
Corsets in specific almost seemed impossible to make a return in an era that sparkles with body positivity and self-love but, the Netflix show made it so popular that celebrities have made the piece of clothing reach cool, cult status. Even Billie Eilish, the 19-year-old mostly recognised for her green hair, baggy clothes and Burberry-printed nails wooed out of that uniform and surprised us all with a completely new look for her British Vogue cover – one that included a corset, of course.
We think it’s safe to say that the corset is having a moment and all we want to do is wear it with a pair of jeans. Below, we’ve rounded up some corset tops to shop…
Alongside the return of corsets and bustiers, the empire waist dress is set for a major comeback – and that’s what led us to be smitten. The show completely reimagined regency dressing and celebrities including Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, Dua Lipa and plenty more have hopped on the trend bandwagon.
The wardrobe consisted of colourful cap sleeve day dresses, dazzling ball gowns, tiaras and gloves, but for the summer, we’re betting on summer part dresses featuring ruches and floral appliques.
