In 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been married, announced a pregnancy and participated in a 16-day royal tour, as well as countless other engagements and as if that wasn’t enough for one year, the newlyweds are now adding a move in also.
Over the weekend, it was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be leaving their Kensington Palace apartment and moving onto Frogmore Estate. A statement released by the palace read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child. The couple have lived at Nottingham Cottage since their engagement last year. Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate.”
The couple already has a special connection with the property, having shot their engagement photos on the premises as well as spending part of their wedding day there.
The cottage has 10 bedrooms, a nursery, gym and a spa and will undergo a multi-million dirham refurbishment to ensure it is family-ready by next Spring. It is expected that Harry and Meghan will move in early next year.
Kensington Palace also confirmed that it would remain as the couple’s “official office” after the move.
The news comes after recent speculation that Harry and William were planning to separate their living arrangements in order to focus on their own families. The move out of central London and into the countryside reiterates Harry and Meghan’s desire to raise their child away from the spotlight of the royal family.
