This up-and-coming actress has been cast to play Princess Diana in The Crown

Career defining moment
Newcomer Emma Corrin is set to play the people's princess in The Crown...

The fourth season of the critically acclaimed Netflix series The Crown will see up-and-coming actress Emma Corrin fill the role of Princess Diana

So far Corrin is a relative newcomer to the scene, having been in the UK-based drama Grandchester but is naturally “beyond excited” to be playing Lady Diana Spencer now in the series which chronicles Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.

It’s definitely a lofty role to undertake but she’ll be in good company with Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman (taking over Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth), Helena Bonham Carter and Gillian Anderson who are all in the upcoming season. With that level of A-class casting, just one day on the set of The Crown will feel like an advanced acting class…

According to Variety, Corrin said, “I have been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal. Princess Diana was an icon, and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring. To be given the chance to explore her through Peter Morgan’s writing is the most exceptional opportunity, and I will strive to do her justice!”
