THE ROYAL ACT OF PRINCE HARRY.

In a powerful humanitarian move, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, has donated $500,000 through the Archewell Foundation to support children injured in the wars in Gaza and Ukraine.

The donation, made on September 10, 2025, has been divided between three international organizations providing emergency care and long-term rehabilitation for child casualties of war — a cause close to Prince Harry.

Where the Funds Are Going

The $500,000 contribution was given in three focused grants:

  • $200,000 to the World Health Organization (WHO) to contribute to emergency medical evacuations of children from Gaza to Jordan so that they can receive urgent care unavailable in the region.
  • $150,000 to Save the Children to support their humanitarian response in Gaza, including food, shelter, medical equipment, and psychosocial support for injured and displaced children.
  • $150,000 to Imperial College London’s Centre for Blast Injury Studies (CBIS), which is creating child-specific prosthetic technology for young amputees — particularly those injured by blasts in Gaza and Ukraine.

This holistic approach is addressing both short-term survival and long-term recovery for children surviving conflict.

Compassion Without Borders

Prince Harry’s move calls attention to a very intentional emphasis on the mutual suffering of civilians — particularly children — in both areas, without taking sides. The message is straightforward: children should never be collateral damage. The contribution is in line with the Archewell Foundation’s mandate to provide aid to communities in crisis and to amplify voices too often left out of international discourse.

Why This Matters

Gaza and Ukraine are both also facing ongoing humanitarian crises. In Gaza, health services are severely limited, and specialized care is extremely difficult to access. There are thousands of children injured who require amputations, trauma care, and rehabilitation in the long term.

In Ukraine, in its fourth year of war, the same trends persist: children injured by blasts, displacement, and loss of family support.

A Continuation of Purpose

This donation comes after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s broader charitable endeavors through the Archewell Foundation, which has supported numerous causes including mental health, refugee support, disaster relief, and veterans’ welfare. Prince Harry’s own life experience as a military veteran and founder of the Invictus Games gives particular personal meaning to initiatives dedicated to war injury, trauma recovery, and resilience.

In a world where news headlines change by the day, Prince Harry’s donation of $500,000 is a reminder that empathy needs to be constant — and global. His aid to injured children in both Gaza and Ukraine is not only philanthropic, but deeply significant, offering both immediate relief and hope for survival in the long term.
