Rihanna was just given a government role in Barbados

She's kind of a big deal
Rihanna has just added yet another role to her ever-growing CV. Here's what we know about it so far...

Is there anything Rihanna can’t do? Evidently not given that she’s already a singer/songwriter/actress/beauty mogul/designer/philanthropist and now, a government ambassador for Barbados.

Over the weekend, the government of Barbados announced that RiRi is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the country. What does that mean exactly? According to the statement, Rihanna now has “specific responsibility for promoting education, tourism and investment for the island.”

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said the appointment came from Rihanna’s longstanding devotion to her country. “Rihanna has a deep love for this country and this is reflected in her philanthropy, especially in the areas of health and education. She also shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to this country and continues to treasure the island as her home. She has also demonstrated, beyond her success a pop icon, significant creative acumen and shrewdness in business. It is therefore fitting that we engage and empower her to play a more definitive role as we work to transform Barbados.”

Speaking of her appointment, Rihanna said in the same statement, “I couldn’t be more proud to take on such a prestigious title in my home country. Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility. I look forward to working with Prime Minister Mottley and her team to reimagine Barbados.”

Could this move signal the possibility of a run for parliament down the line? There’s officially nothing she can’t do so time will tell.

Now, find out all the details you need to know about Rihanna’s upcoming Fenty Beauty masterclass in Dubai.
