Towards the end of last month Kensington Palace released the name of the cake maker charged with designing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s wedding cake for their fast-approaching nuptials on May 19. And now, the Palace has revealed who the pair has chosen to be their florist.
Philippa Craddock, who has run her own business for nine years and worked for the likes of Dior and Alexander McQueen in that time, is the lucky woman chosen to adorn the couple’s wedding venue with flowers on the day. As for what flowers the couple have requested? White garden roses, foxgloves and seasonal beech locally sourced from the gardens of the Crown Estate and Windsor Great Park, as well as peonies and “pollinator-friendly plants [from The Royal Parks] wildflower meadows. These plants provide a great habitat for bees and help to sustain healthy and biodiverse ecosystems,” the Palace explained in a statement on Instagram.
On her appointment, Craddock said, “I am excited and honoured to have been chosen by Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle to design and create their wedding flowers. Working with them has been an absolute pleasure. The process has been highly collaborative, free-flowing, creative and fun. The final designs will represent them as a couple, which I always aim to achieve in my work, with local sourcing, seasonality and sustainability being at the forefront.”
And speaking of sustainability, once the wedding is over, the flowers will be dontaed to charities of the newlyweds choosing.
