Halima Aden to speak at the Future of Fashion event in Saudi Arabia

Mark your calendars...
The boundary-breaking model will be in Riyadh next month...

Let’s be honest: two words dominating the fashion industry today are sustainability and diversity.

Yes, the industry has become more diverse, more inclusive and more environmentally aware, however fashion still has its flaws. And we champion brands that are increasing diversity of their runway models by a marginal percentage and one particular name changing the game — on and off the runway — is Halima Aden.

The hijab-wearing model has been breaking barriers even before she made her runway debut during Kanye West’s Yeezy show during New York Fashion Week for Fall/Winter ’17. However since then, she’s been standing up for meaningful change, examining the bigger picture of what the landscape of fashion should represent.

Case in point: the Somali-American model is due to speak at a three-day seminar in Saudi Arabia next month to discuss the ‘Future of Fashion’.

The event actually aims to support the country’s fashion sector but, will still host a slew of workshops and panel discussions that focus on challenges, trends and developments of the overall industry, too.

Aden is set to conduct a Q&A at the Riyadh-based event, and we can’t wait to hear what she has to say.

The Future of Fashion event will take place in Riyadh from November 4-6, 2019.
