Hype, a true partyrocker with a career spanning almost three decades, embodies an eclectic view on Hip Hop and Funk. Inspired by the late great Jam Master Jay, he started his DJ career back in 1988, and since then, he has been a prolific artist with countless releases, tours, and awards under his belt. He dominated the German ITF championships by winning it twice in ’98 & ’99, and collaborated with a host of renowned artists such as Masta Ace, Souls Of Mischief, Edo G., and Zion I. Hype’s solo-debut album “1973 * Recon” even became the Album of the Month in Europe’s largest Hip Hop Magazine JUICE in 2003.

In 2004, Hype’s creative genius sparked when he crossed paths with world-class pianist Jim Dunloop in Berlin. Together, they embarked on an incredible journey of collaborative shows and productions that led to their first vinyl releases in 2005. The Antique Anthem, Bombay Raw, and Finale 74 gained global recognition in the DJ circuit, followed by their cover version of Babe Ruth’s “The Mexican” in 2006, which was dubbed by UK’s Jazzman Gerald as “the” version to have.

Melting Pot Music released Hype’s album “Stamp out reality” in 2009, featuring legendary artists such as Blowfly, Mr Complex, Malena Perez, and Lady Daisey. Alongside his successful music career, he hosted critically acclaimed event series like Rap History Berlin and SoulClap! Tours in Germany and Asia. Today, Marc Hype continues his music journey, traveling the world with his 45s bag as part of the Berlin/London/Hamburg-based Dusty Donuts crew and label, and as a member of the UK-based international 45 Live DJ Circle, spreading the original values of Hip Hop Culture and Crate Digging.
