Fresh off the back of the release of her debut campaign for Chanel’s new Coco Neige collection, Margot Robbie‘s next film project has been revealed.
The Australian actress will take on the role of Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood film, based on the real-life Manson family murders.
In what is set to be a stellar film, Robbie will join an all-star cast that currently includes Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. According to Deadline, Kurt Russell, Burt Reynolds and Reese Witherspoon‘s husband Tim Roth are also in talks for parts.
The movie will follow the story of the infamous Manson family cult who murdered a pregnant Tate and six others in 1969. Ringleader Charles Manson is still in prison for the attacks.
Interestingly, there is more than one film about the murders/Sharon Tate in the works at present. Hilary Duff is playing Tate in The Haunting of Sharon Tate, a psychological thriller that takes place in the last few days of her life, and Kate Bosworth and her husband Michael Polish are involved in a film called Tate in which Bosworth will play the late wife of Roman Polanski. Their adaptation focuses on the life of Tate, as opposed to her untimely end, whilst Charlie Says is an independent movie featuring Matt Smith as Manson and Suki Waterhouse as Tate that will centre around the cult.
Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is currently slated for release in August 9, 2019.
