Weekend culture guide: October 26-27

Here's what to do this weekend
It's officially the last weekend of October and there's plenty to do around town...

The climate has officially cooled down in the UAE, meaning we can finally go outdoors and indulge in everything the country has to offer. Nearing the end of October, the month’s last weekend presents a slew of exciting activities on the cultural calendar. In case you’re unsure of what to do to keep you busy this weekend, here are our top three choices…

Take part in the Dubai Fitness Challenge

The 30-day fitness initiative by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government, is officially back and whilst fitness may not be everyone’s first choice this weekend, this new (and complimentary) offering is the perfect way to kick start your new regime. CycleBar will be hosting complimentary pop-up ride classes during the Dubai Fitness Challenge and you’ll be able to spin your way into the weekend with fitness experts and good music that’ll certainly keep you pedalling.

The Dubai Fitness Challenge kicks off today and CycleBar will be hosting complimentary pop-up ride classes at the Dubai Festival City Opening Weekend Carnival on October 26-27.

Indulge in Asian cuisine at the newly-opened Hakkasan Dubai

When Hakkasan Dubai closed its doors earlier this year, the region’s food enthusiasts were left waiting for the day the famed Chinese restaurant would open its doors once again. Well, it did just that at its new space at Atlantis The Palm earlier this week.  You can expect to try some of the award-winning restaurant’s signature dishes, as well as some new offerings, including crispy duck salad with pomelo, pine nut and shallotsgold leaf lychee and lobster dumpling, abalone and chicken shumai with caviar, royal king crab jade dumplings (yum!).

Hakkasan Dubai is located at Atlantis The Palm.

Watch Swan Lake at Dubai Opera

One of the world’s most beloved ballets, Swan Lake, is only on for two more days so you’ll want to get your tickets, stat. Exclusively sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels, the ballet is one not to be missed as it tells the story of a Prince and a beautiful maiden (who is then transformed into a swan by an evil knight). A classic tale that looks at good, evil, love and tragedy, Swan Lake is accompanied by The Orchestra of the National Opera of Ukraine.

Swan Lake is now showing at the Dubai Opera from October 26-27. For tickets, visit Dubaiopera.com
