This week #BuroSpotlights artist Halima Aziz. Born in Germany in 1999 to a father from Gaza and a mother from Tulkarm, Halima Aziz spent her childhood in Palestine. Her life took a significant turn in 2008 when, at the age of nine, she became a survivor of an Israeli military assault on Gaza. In 2009, Aziz moved back to Germany, only to realize that many people around her were unaware of the situation in her home country. By the age of 17, Aziz started painting, using her art as a means of education. Her art reflects Palestinian culture, traditional clothing, arts and crafts, and the Palestinian resistance movement. Aziz’s artistic repertoire includes acrylic and oil on canvas paintings, and sometimes, she even employs watercolors on paper.

Through her art, Halima Aziz brings the rich heritage and struggles of Palestine to the forefront. Her work is not just a celebration of her own talent but also a testament to the power of art in conveying complex narratives and promoting cultural awareness
