Born and raised in Cairo, Maha Ahmed is the creative brain behind Dubai-based label Autonomie. Established in 2021, Autonomie–as its name suggests–centers around the idea of individuality, aimed at bringing together diverse sets of people bound by the thread of creativity. The brand was born from her own experiences of feeling isolated, even when surrounded by others. She wanted to create a space where people could connect, where they could feel seen and understood. This ethos is reflected in the brand’s diverse customer base, which spans ages, genders, and interests.
Maha’s passion for fashion took her to the prestigious Istituto Marangoni in Milan, where she honed her craft. Her stints in Paris and Milan shaped her as a designer and broadened her perspective. Yet, despite these global influences, Maha’s designs carry the subtle essence of the Middle East and North Africa.
Every piece from the brand is a result of a meticulous process where innovation reigns supreme. Maha Ahmed draws inspiration from a myriad of sources—be it the vibrant cultures of her heritage, the organic beauty of nature, or the pulse of contemporary trends.
