Virgil Abloh’s ‘Figures of Speech’ Special Edition book launches and we want one

A celebration of the multihyphenate artist
Everything you need to know about the designer, including his work with brands like Louis Vuitton and Ikea…

Launching on October 29th, the long-awaited Special Edition of Virgil Abloh‘s book, Figures of Speech, is finally here. From 496 pages spanning everything Abloh related as well as a cool contemporary cover that has coffee table goals written all over it, this new tome published by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago will definitely pique your intellectual curiosity.

Created in a three-books-in-one format, the monograph celebrates the cross-disciplinarian artist exploring his creative output from street fashion to high culture. The catalogue section touches on Abloh’s interdisciplinary practice by Michael Darling, covering essays and interviews with key figures in fashion, art, design, and architecture, including Taiye Selasi, Rem Koolhaas, Samir Bantal, and Anja Aronowsky Cronberg.

Next, the archives section compiles more than a 1,800 never-before-seen images that were taken from Abloh’s very own personal files that cover his various collaborations as well as his influences. Finally, the Index cross references Abloh’s works with his projects and process, from street fashion to high culture all lavishly illustrated in the book.

Arriving in a cloth slipcase, the contemporary cover features the words ‘ArtWork’ silkscreened in white on the front as well as ‘Personal Copy’ in black along the book’s edge. It also comes with a measuring tape ribbon marker, and a flexi disc printed with an image of German fine-art and fashion photographer, Juergen Teller, that includes a recording of Virgil Abloh discussing his inspirations.
