SARA SHAKEEL USES 2 MILLION CRYSTALS TO CREATE BEDAZZLED MANNEQUINS FOR KERASTASE IN PARIS.

'SHE'S LIGHT YEARS AHEAD'
On Tuesday in Paris, Emily Ratajkowski, Rupi Kaur, Ebonee Davis, and Gaëlle Drevet graced Kérastase’s second annual Power Talks, shedding light on the global issue of women's confidence deficit and emphasizing the transformative impact of dedicated mentorship.

In an effort to bridge the confidence divide between genders, Kérastase initiated this event to amplify the voices of women while teaming up with local NGOs, such as Step Up, to offer tailored mentorship programs. The impetus behind this drive stems from Kérastase’s comprehensive survey, conducted in August 2022 across the US, China, Brazil, the UK, and France, revealing that over half of women have experienced setbacks due to self-imposed limitations.

As the event unfolded, guests were captivated by Sara Shakeel’s visionary installation, “She’s Light Years Ahead,” featuring intricately adorned mannequins interlinked by a network of over three thousand feet of glistening crystal beading. This symbolic display sought to underscore the collective understanding arising from the shared journeys of women. Complementing the exhibit was a preview of the upcoming Kérastase Première line, slated for release in February 2024. The range includes a revitalizing shampoo, conditioner, and serum formulated to restore 99% of hair’s original strength by eliminating the calcium buildup typically found in water, reinforcing hair fibers with an innovative blend of 8% citric acid and glycine.

Shakeel captioned: ‘And finally my vision comes to life ✨SHE’S LIGHT YEARS AHEAD✨ another extremely successful installation & collaboration with @kerastase_official in Palais de Tokyo – Paris , using over 2 million crystals and approximately 42,000 meters-long crystal cupchains, to celebrate women & sisterhood. This was one of the most healing journeys of my life! Four figures, each of varying shapes and sizes, unified by the same shade of crystal. The visual metaphor shows how women, despite their physical differences, share a common essence,
Their hair, magnified through strands stretching thousands of meters to connect the mannequins, signifies that irrespective of one’s origins, women enjoy a universal understanding based on our shared experiences. And that despite it all, we continue to shine brightly. This was a tribute I’ve always longed to create and celebrate with my sisters 👯‍♀️ all over the world. To really show them how I SEE THEM!!! And I see them nothing but sparkling , and sparkling everything around them! 💎I also want give a HUGE thank you to my wonderful creative team who made this project come to life!’
