Saudi Arabia’s design scene is making a bold statement, and it’s all happening this May at JAX District in Riyadh. The inaugural Downtown Design Riyadh, set to run from May 20-23, is a milestone event marking the Kingdom’s first-ever fair dedicated to showcasing contemporary, high-quality design. Positioned as a key player in the burgeoning creative landscape of Saudi Arabia, this exciting new event promises to be the meeting point for design enthusiasts, industry professionals, and those eager to experience the rise of a global design destination.
In partnership with the Architecture and Design Commission of Saudi Arabia, Downtown Design Riyadh will highlight top-tier international brands, regional studios, and, most notably, emerging Saudi talent. With demand for luxury interiors skyrocketing across the Kingdom, this fair has arrived at the perfect moment to showcase the intersection of high-end design and the Kingdom’s cultural identity.
From interactive pop-ups to a curated talks program, the fair offers an immersive journey through the world ofcontemporary design. Visitors can explore collectible works and limited-edition pieces from leading global designers, including names like Christophe Delcourt, Apparatus Studio, and Draga & Aurel, alongside a range of bespoke installations that reflect Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage. Expect cutting-edge designs from the likes of Teeb Made, a contemporary take on culturally rooted objects, and Scarlet Splendour, presenting bold brass pieces by Richard Hutten.
One of the highlights of the fair is a large-scale multi-brand exhibit by Huda Lighting, featuring names such as Articolo, Brokis, and Tom Dixon, and The Bowery Company, introducing Scandinavian furniture brands like Audo Copenhagen and GUBI. Plus, Kuwaiti Babnimnim Studio will showcase an architectural installation that beautifully bridges heritage and innovation.
Beyond the exhibits, the fair also includes a dynamic line-up of talks and experiential exhibitions, such as Jotun‘s color collaborations with local designers and Karim+Elias’ outdoor intervention, Strata, made from Saudi sand. It’s a celebration of both local craftsmanship and international innovation in design.
