Exclusive: Backstage beauty from Chanel Haute Couture S/S’19 with heaps of sass

Big hair, don't care
Chanel always proves its clout as the heavyweight of Haute Couture. And the beauty looks for S/S'19 were larger than life. We needed a bit more of it in our lives, so we've got these exclusive backstage looks to inspire some evening glam...

Paris Haute Couture might be over for another season but that doesn’t mean we can’t do a little throw-backing. Chanel’s S/S’19 show (some might say the definitive show of the season) served up a lot of fabulous fashion. The palm-tree lined Mediterranean Villa Chanel saw models descend in bigger than big wears from an ornate pastel pink beaded gown to power shoulders and bubble hems. And that was just the clothes…

When it came to the beauty, the looks were equally as regal. We’ve decided that if Marie Antoinette and David Bowie were to have an offspring, the hair would be very ‘big hair, don’t care’. And this is exactly what Chanel gave us.

The hair might have been on the 18th century side, but the makeup was on the side of 1986. With ‘look at me’ lips and eyelids heavily dominated by opaque eyeshadow, it definitely read, ‘she means business’.

Lucia Pica, Chanel’s Beauty’s Global Creative Designer for makeup and colour said that her favourite product to use was “Stylo Ombre Et Contour Bleu Nuit, it’s really easy to apply. It is emphasised by the Baume Essentiel Transparent applied on the eyelid as the finishing touch of the look.”
