Sephora confirms the ban of mink eyelashes

Following a PETA campaign, Sephora is set to phase out current stock of mink-based lashes...

It’s official: Sephora just announced that it is going fur-free following a campaign by PETA and its international affiliates.

The beauty retailer — with its Middle Eastern flagship store located in The Dubai Mall — will discontinue selling its mink eyelashes (currently phasing out its current stock) and have vowed to stop selling them online and in stores worldwide.

“Following a PETA campaign and emails from more than 280,000 concerned shoppers, Sephora has confirmed that it has banned mink-fur eyelashes and will purchase only synthetic or faux-fur lashes going forward,” a statement from PETA reads.

Speaking of Sephora’s decision, PETA Senior Vice President of International Campaigns Jason Baker, says: “There’s nothing pretty about the fur industry: whether it’s a pair of false eyelashes or a coat, if you buy a product made of mink, you’re supporting cruelty. PETA celebrates Sephora’s decision to leave mink-fur lashes off its shelves.”
