The fragrance industry continues to blossom with several new scents launching in the market. Some might have taken weeks or years to perfect, and some even centuries to come into its final form. For Hermès, it’s been 15 years since its last men’s fragrance collection launch. The bar has been set up impressively high with an array of iconic offerings under its olfactive universe, so why rush?

In 2006, one of the house’s best-selling scents for men, Terre D’Hermès, was crafted with notes of cedar, patchouli and vetiver and was created to connect men to their roots. Fast forward to today, Hermès has introduced H24, and it certainly does not disappoint.

Bound to sit proudly on the vanity tables of men around the world, H24 is innovating and inventing. Christine Nagel, Director of Hermès’ Olfactory Creation sine 2014, was inspired by Véronique Nichanian’s creative vision of the Hermès man and combined nature and technology in this latest fragrance for men. “I like to go towards natural, very classic raw materials, and work them using technologies that give them other renderings, other textures,” explains Nagel.

Using several techniques including co-distillation, synthesis and biotechnologies, the end result of H24 features notes of clary sage (its velvety components add a sensual element to the scent), Narcissus (the flower gives it a lively hint of colour), Rosewood (a material to boost its botanical note) and Sclarene (an innovative synthetic molecule that develops a warm sensual metallic note, reminiscent of a hot iron).

“To create this new Hermès signature fragrance, I had to open up other, less predictable paths, to move away from the conventional woodiness of men’s scents.”

It’s timeless, classic and expressive scent is synonymous with luxury and tradition.
