WHO GOT YOU BLUSHING LIKE THAT? WELL, TIKTOK.

We're blushing, and the reason is the latest TikTok beauty trend.

What is the 'Sunset Blush' trend, and why is everyone on TikTok obsessed with it?

Over the past few years, TikTok and its digital natives have earned themselves the reputation of coming up with some of the most viral and controversial beauty trends. For who can forget the internet-breaking ‘Crying Girl’ makeup look or the one where youngsters on the app were giving themselves fake under-eye circles? While ‘Crying Girl’ makeup was TikTok’s attempt at recreating the radiant post-cry look, the latest trend to come from #BeautyTok mimics the flushed look after walking out in the sun.

After obsessing over minimal makeup trends like the #CleanGirl aesthetic and #EspressoMakeup, Tiktok is finally giving in to flushed cheeks. Dubbed the “Sunset Blush” trend, TikTok’s latest beauty obsession celebrates the carefree spirit of summer.

Inspired by the warm hues of summer sunsets, the technique involves dabbing your cheeks with poppy pink and orange blush, along with a golden highlighter. Applied to the high points of the face, these bright, near-neon colors are then blended upward in a C-shape to create a tropical, ombré effect, et voilà

To try the sunset blush look, gather a few essentials: a vibrant coral or red-orange liquid blush, a softer pink or hot pink liquid blush, and a champagne or gold liquid highlighter. Liquid products are ideal for this technique due to their superior blendability compared to creams or powders.

Start with the darkest shade: Apply two dots near your temples, towards the outer corners of your face.

Add the pink blush: Place two dots of the pink-toned blush along your cheekbone in a diagonal line.

Highlight: Swipe your liquid highlighter just above the blush dots to bring radiance to your cheek’s high points.

Blend the dots together using a brush, beauty blender, or your fingers. To keep the sunset-inspired ombré effect, blend slowly with gentle patting motions, ensuring the colors transition smoothly without merging into one.
