Art Basel has announced the launch of a three-day festival in Abu Dhabi

Taking place in 2020
Whilst we've always known Abu Dhabi to be a bustling capital enriched with culture and art influences, this new festival proves it...

We’re only a few short months away from welcoming another edition of Art Basel in Miami but it looks like the world’s premier art fair has cast its eye on another prime location for next year.

Art Basel has announced the launch of Art Basel Inside — a three-day festival set to take place in Abu Dhabi. Whilst we’ve always known the UAE’s capital to be a cultural hub filled with heavy art influences (it’s home to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and soon, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi), Art Basel Inside will showcase the emirate as a global destination for the arts.

In partnership with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, Art Basel Inside is planned to be “a multi-faceted cultural experience offering thought leaders from diverse fields and industries the opportunity to share visions and engage with the issues facing the world today”.

Throughout the event (which will be curated by Marc-Olivier Wahler, the Director of the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Geneva), guests will be able to immerse themselves in a unique experience that includes discovering site-specific installations, watching performances, listening to dialogues and attending workshops with visionary speakers that cover a range of topics.

Art Basel Inside is set to run from February 14-16, 2020. Whilst no further details have been revealed, make sure to watch this space.

Until then, take a look at the expansion of the Department of Islamic Art at the Louvre museum in Paris.
