It’s been four months since Karl Lagerfeld passed away and since then, several fashion houses including Fendi have paid homage to the legendary icon. Whilst he remained Creative Director for Fendi up until his passing earlier this year, the brand continues to remain silent about the future of the top creative spot, although Silvia Venturini Fendi has seamlessly secured creative reigns.
For her latest collection, the Resort 2020 range offered a powerful take on its signature sophistication. It marked the first Fendi collection designed without the late Karl Lagerfeld’s guidance and looked towards women for inspiration. More specifically, the muse who inspired the resort collection was Jeri Dawn, the protagonist of the Eighties classic “Gloria” who was played by Gena Rowlands.
Embodying the same feminine attitude as Dawn, the collection was strong, sartorially appealing and includes a sense of romance through pleated skirts, high-waisted pants, glossy trenches and skirt suits.
