Welcome to Milan Fashion Week! Kicking off the penultimate fashion week of the month, a slew of coveted brands took their newest Spring/Summer ’19 collections to the fash pack on day one. From Jil Sander‘s minimal seasonal collection to Alberta Ferretti‘s model line-up and N°21‘s striking ensembles, these are the looks you need to see…
Jil Sander
What you need to know: Designers Luke and Lucie Meier delivered yet another minimal collection for their third season with the brand. With experimentation in the back of their minds, the Meier’s played on the typical woman’s pantsuit and blended it with influences from the military, sending cool uniform-like pieces and monochrome relaxed silhouettes down the runway.
Wishlist-worthy: The handbags!
Alberta Ferretti
What you need to know: Alberta Ferretti is a designer favorite amongst the fash pack and her S/S ‘19 collection proved why. In a semi-whimsical way, the pieces came to life in the form of pastel denim, high-waisted pants, lace-trimmed and eyelet tops, swimwear and super feminine jumpsuits.
Model line-up: Alberta Ferretti’s show was filled with a celebrity-filled front row but there was also plenty of famous faces on the runway. We spotted the Hadid sisters in two different looks, Kaia Gerber and Kendall Jenner (who only walked in Riccardo Tisci’s debut Burberry show this fashion month season).
N°21
What you need to know: Alessandro Dell’Acqua delivered yet another standout collection overnight and the pieces were perfect for office-to-after party scenarios. With a range of oversized metallic blazers, flared dresses, fitted pencil skirts, super structured coats and very distinctive details, the collection came complete in the designer’s usual neutral-toned colour palette but also included pops of neons.
In case you didn’t know: This season, the designer opted to keep embellishments to a minimum and instead included ostrich feathers on dresses and sparkling filters on slipdresses, too.
