The Institut du Monde Arabe has announced its nominees for the prestigious Arab World Design Award 2024, recognizing trailblazing talent from the region. This year, We Design Beirut participants have made a strong impression with their cutting-edge projects and visionary ideas.

BabylonThe Agency, founded by Joy Mardini and William Wehbe—is leading the nominations. Their curation of the WDB Main Exhibition, ‘Past Echoes,’ at Villa Audi has earned them a spot in the “Impact Award, Arab Bank Switzerland” category. This exhibition skillfully weaves together historical influences with modern design, creating a narrative that resonates with contemporary audiences.

In the “Emerging Talent” category, Nabil Farhat and Rabih Koussa have been recognized for their innovative project ‘Magma Plastique.’ This work, showcased at the Sustainable Materials Exhibition at Abroyan Factory, highlights their commitment to using recycled materials in fresh and inventive ways.

Hadi Abou Hamdan also shines in the “Emerging Talent” category with his project, ‘Transbollard,’ which was featured at the same exhibition. Hamdan’s design merges functionality with creativity, offering a new perspective on urban fixtures.

These nominations celebrate the ingenuity and forward-thinking approach of Arab designers, marking a significant milestone in the global design community. The Institut du Monde Arabe Awards continue to spotlight the exceptional talent emerging from this vibrant region, promising exciting developments in the world of design.
