Captivating Trends: Her Top Picks for Attention.

Our biggest mood for the season, The Extraordinary Everyday, does exactly what the title says, making everyday clothes extraordinary. It is all about elevating the essential items in our wardrobe to new heights of exceptional design and style. It was showcased across the SS24 collections in an array of ways. At Loewe, it meant reimagining the high-waisted pant in extreme proportions, while at Ferragamo, it meant impeccable tailoring with split sleeves adding interest to the simplest

of items. Meanwhile, accessories act as a testament to the casualization of fashion, where consumers want to be chic and comfortable. In the last year at NET-A-PORTER, we have seen sales of flat shoes increase by nearly 20%.

Chic Sportif is an extension of how everyday wardrobes can be extraordinary. A quiet undertone throughout the SS24 collections, Chic Sportif, demonstrates fashion’s affinity for a preppy, sporty sensibility that expertly showcases the casualization of fashion. The trend is embodied through hi-low dressing, which Dries Van Noten expertly showcased in his SS24 collection by pairing striped rugby pants with couture-like coats. In the world of accessories, the anti-gym bag, oversized totes, weekenders, and mesh shopping bags proved their versatility and dominated the Spring-Summer collections. This trend reflects the current mood in fashion because it is accessible in so many ways with something for every style and personality. With so many incredible iterations of this trend our consumers are spoilt for choice, a personal favourite is the oversized shearling coat from our Exclusive Weekend Capsule by Toteme, it is perfect for throwing on over lounge pants and a sweater or dressed up with a tailored pant and boots for the office; it is an extraordinary wardrobe staple that effortlessly exudes comfort and elegance.

Integral to the Chic Sportif trend is colour, and particularly a Primary Palette. SS24 saw designers inject bold colours into the fashion landscape; some designers took a head-to-tonal approach, while others opted for just a flash. Proenza Schouler provided a masterclass on how to wear red, while Loewe paired cobalt blue with chocolate brown for a striking combination. Accessories are crucial in making the Primary Palette more accessible, and our customers love to shop accessories with emotion; to me, Bottega Veneta’s green basket bag speaks for itself.

Finally, there are The New New Romantics, which place fashion, femininity, and strength at the forefront. Organza, lace, intricate ruffles, and 3D florals all came together to create a new, undone way of dressing that isn’t overly girly. Instead, there is a modern refinement to these ethereal pieces. A perfect example is Hunter Schafer’s Prada dress at the 2024 Golden Globes earlier this month. Muted tones and pastel palettes are integral to this mood, and searches for pastel dresses have increased by 125% since fashion month. Versace’s collection was a literal take on this feminine trend, and we have bought 16 runway looks that will be delivered to NET-A-PORTER customers one week ahead of any other retailer in March.

Her Take on Trends to Retire

In SS24, we’ll be leaving pink behind and embracing the Primary Palette. Taking inspiration from Bauhaus, designers combined cobalt blue, yellow and green with architectural silhouettes, while others incorporated striking accessories for a more subtle approach. I loved seeing primary hues incorporated into the SS24 collections, and it makes a refreshing change to the sea of pink that has dominated the Runways for so long.

Nostalgic Trend Talk: The Trend She Would Bring From The Past.

90s nostalgia continues to be a trend that finds new iterations in contemporary collections. Incorporated into the debut collections of Peter Hawkings at Tom Ford, and Sabato de Sarno at Gucci, I’m always excited to see how it will be reinterpreted and reimagined.
