OUD FASHION TALKS 2024: EMPOWERING KUWAIT’S ECONOMY THROUGH FASHION AND INNOVATION.

Oud Fashion Talks (OFT) returned to Kuwait on October 17-18, igniting new momentum in the creative economy by connecting local talents with global industry leaders. Bringing together celebrated experts from fashion, media, and business, OFT offered invaluable insights to help Kuwaiti creatives navigate the challenges of building sustainable businesses and contribute to the nation's economic growth.

With a spotlight on “soft power,” the program explored how creativity and cultural influence can enhance economic development. Panels and workshops delved into the essentials for aspiring designers, from sustainable brand-building to uncovering job opportunities within the creative sector.

The event kicked off with an exclusive Gala Dinner at AlShaheed Park, drawing top industry names like Imran Amed (CEO of Business of Fashion), Khaled Altayer (CEO of Altayer Group), comedian Bassem Youssef, and global influencer Karen Wazen, alongside Kuwait’s prominent figures and creatives. This prestigious evening marked the beginning of an inspiring lineup of panel discussions, with experts like designer Elie Saab sharing strategies for building resilient, innovative brands. Partnered with Meta, workshops offered practical digital growth tools, helping participants take their design skills from passion to profession.

OFT also put a spotlight on Kuwaiti brands, connecting them with influential investors such as Bloomingdales and Harvey Nichols. Many local brands gained new exposure and opportunities for growth through these connections, with networking paving the way for regional and global press coverage.

A shining success story from OFT is “Ibrah,” a new local production factory now serving as a vital support for Kuwait’s creative economy. This year’s event featured a full-day of public engagement with panels, pop-up shops, exhibitions, and a vibrant array of food trucks, amplifying accessibility with free registration supported by Kuwait’s Touristic Enterprise Company (TEC).
